Dr. Christopher Henry

 

Was born and raised in Mississippi. As a son of a preacher, he was encouraged to give back to the community. As a trained pediatric dentist and an orthodontist, he has had the opportunity to go on numerous mission trips providing dental care to those who would otherwise not have access. Each experience has left him feeling inspired and blessed. Dr. Henry is constantly looking for new ways to give. After twelve years living in the interior of Alaska, Dr. Henry had the opportunity to move to Florida to be near family. In the process, He met and married the love of his life. They both have a heart for philanthropy in all forms. Dr. Henry joined Dancing Stars of St. Johns County to bring awareness and financial support. He is excited to be a part of this unique organization and have the opportunity to bless others through the arts.

Kym D. Johnson

 

She is honored to be a part of this worthy community event, which supports such a valuable northeast Florida organization. Born in St. Augustine and raised at the north end of the County, Kym resides in the historic Fullerwood neighborhood of St. Augustine.  She serves as the Director of Grant Making and Revenue Opportunities for the Girl Scouts, where building girls of courage, confidence, and character is the Mission, and teaches as an adjunct professor for Flagler College and Florida State College at Jacksonville.  When not serving the community and teaching, she loves travel and adventure both stateside and abroad. Kym also enjoys Pickleball, stand up paddle boarding, and spending time with family and friends, plus she is a diehard New York Rangers hockey fan! Kym has recently started a small consulting company, Full Sail Strategies, where she and her team assist non-profits and women in business with creating finance goals, comprehensive alternative funding plans and fundraising, board creation and development, and creating strategic solutions for any challenges the organization might be facing. It has been a lifelong dream of Kym’s to learn to ballroom dance. So, she’s putting on her dancing shoes and ready to do her part to raise money for St. Augustine Community School of Performing Arts.

Cristina Duncan

 

Cristina is owner and founder of The Gift of Dance, a mobile dance company that brings classes to communities, preschools, and elementary schools in St. Johns County. Cristina and her team are passionate about working with children and helping them achieve confidence through dancing and performing. Their goal is to continue to grow so even more children have access to the wonderful world of dancing. Cristina has seen firsthand how learning to express yourself through music and dance can help process trauma and difficult life events. She has had the opportunity to serve the very students that SACSPA raises funding for and has become so passionate about the mission of this organization. She is honored to compete again this year in Dancing Stars of St. Johns County. When Cristina isn't teaching, dancing or training with her team, she enjoys spending time with her two amazing children Jasmine and Jaxon. They love being at the beach or catching a movie together.

Maiya Ziminske

 

Originally from Minnesota and has been local to St. Augustine for 13 years. She owns a local business called a STA NUTRITION where they serve healthy shakes, energizing teas, protein options, and more. Maiya is passionate about fitness, health, fun, and helping others!

Lauren Peterson

 

Born and raised in Texas and moved to St. Augustine to finish school at Flagler College. She received her degree in Hospitality and Tourism, and now works at St. Augustine Youth Services in fundraising. Lauren loves to be with her friends whether it's hosting dinner parties, working on side projects, or playing some pickleball, she is happiest when she is with the people she loves. 

Richard ”Ricky” Van Rickley

 

Served in the U.S. Army for 27 years. Ricky spent 19 of the 27 years as a Special Forces Green Beret with multiple combat deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Philippines. Ricky resides in Kensington, St. Augustine, with his wife of 28 years, Marcella, and their granddaughter Rhyann. Since Ricky’s retirement he has served as the Director of Events for GORUCK a local Special Forces veteran owned company. He currently works as a Commercial Construction Project Manager for Stratum Contracting and Construction Management, a veteran owned business that strives to hire veterans. Ricky is also the Executive Director of a 501c3 non-profit called Task Force Hydro1. TFH1’s mission is “To come together as a community of waterman to help Active-Duty Military, Veteran, and 1st Responders cope with PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety, and suicide by creating meaningful connections and sharing the healing powers of the ocean, rivers, and lakes via outdoor physical and recreational activities”. Ricky is stoked to be a part of Dancing Stars of St. Johns County so he can highlight TFH1 and the healing powers of surfing.

Marlit Yui

 

Originally from Lima, Peru and recently moved to the St. Johns County. She is a mom of four: Leonela, Victoria, Sebastian, and Elih. Her husband, Leonardo, is a Navy Veteran. Marlit is here representing her husband and all the families that have come to show their support for the amazing non-profit Organization Task Force Hydro1 (TFH1). TFH1’s mission is “To help Active-Duty, Veteran and 1st Responders to cope with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through water sports”. She is super excited to be a part of Dancing Stars of St Johns County. Marlit enjoys dancing and has been a Folklore traditional dancer since she was 12 years old, performing in a Peruvian and Bolivian Group in Miami and now in Jacksonville. The group’s name is Peru Dance. She has also taken part in a Salsa group in Miami. Marlit is currently finishing college getting an Associate degree in Business. To stay active, she does CrossFit. Marlit feels proud to be Peruvian and to have Inca blood in her veins. .

Anita Knight Kuhnley

 

Author of “The Mister Rogers Effect: 7 Secrets to Bringing Out the Best in Yourself and Others from America's Beloved Neighbor” and is associate professor of counseling at Regent University. Dr. Kuhnley has worked as head counselor of a faith-based substance abuse facility, served as a counselor at a women's community center, and directed a college counseling center. She is a popular conference speaker for the American Association of Christian Counselors and a blogger for the American Counseling Association.
